Dental Hygienist

Duties

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health status
• Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
• Conduct patient assessments, review medical histories, and document findings accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology
• Support the clinical team with chairside assisting during various procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings
• Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments in compliance with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice
• Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred but not required
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding practices
• Prior experience in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry clinics is highly desirable
• Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs compassionately and professionally
• Familiarity with medical records management, documentation review, and HIPAA compliance standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal workflow
