Program Overview:
At RiverStone Health Dental Clinic our high-quality dental services improve the health of our community and are supplemented by dentists completing a dental residency. The dental team works closely with RiverStone Health Clinic medical providers, since dental care has a significant impact on overall health. We care for patients of all ages, including seeing children for their first trip to the dentist.
Job Summary:
The primary role of the Dentist is to provide quality, comprehensive dental care in a fast-paced community health center. This position may provide coverage at other RiverStone Health locations, including the mobile clinic. The Dentist works closely with our medical clinic and other organizational services to provide an integrated approach to overall health and wellness, as well as participates in supervising dental student rotations. In addition, dentists who become faculty members of our AEGD Dental Residency Program will receive an additional stipend.
Essential Functions/Major Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Dental Services 95%
Provides routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans in the following disciplines of general dentistry:
Diagnose dental decay and preventative measures
Restorative amalgam and composite restorations
Fixed prosthodontics crown and bridge
Removable prosthodontics dentures and partials
Endodontics
Pediatric care restorations stainless steel crowns extractions
Oral surgery extractions
Oral health conditions and pathology recognition
Periodontal treatment
Implant restorations
Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medication.
Initiate and interpret x-ray and lab studies.
Interview patients, review charts and interpret laboratory data to educate and make recommendations to dental patients about diagnosis and outcomes.
Conduct follow-up patient care of various dental issues and document outcomes.
Refer patients to appropriate community resources and health care providers as necessary.
Provide needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to dental staff.
Provide dental and oral health education to patients and families.
Assist in reviewing clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment.
Teach and train patients and staff on illness prevention.
Assist with in-service and on-going training of clinic staff.
Possibly serve as faculty for NYU Langone Dental Residency.
Build relationships and foster a high level of customer service.
Manage difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services provided consistent with the organization’s polices and the standards of dental profession.
Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements.
Utilize and monitor effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used in the delivery of care.
Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all organizational policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of RiverStone Health.
Work with and teach medical residents, dental residents and students of various training when applicable.
Proficiency in providing competent management of medically compromised or patients with special needs.
Compliance with relevant requirements for continuing education and licensure.
Non-Essential Functions/Other duties as assigned ≥5%
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the RiverStone’s mission and goals.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Dental School.
Any combination of experience and training which provide the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in the practice of dentistry.
Experience working with underserved population.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current and active license in good standing to practice dentistry in the State of Montana obtained by anticipated start date.
Able to qualify for Current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate by the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA Registration).
Current CPR certification (can be obtained after employment begins).
Completion of the credentialing and privileging process with appropriate approval.
Valid State of Montana Driver’s License, vehicle and vehicle insurance

Knowledge and understanding of electronic health record system(s) and how to operate a computer.

Supervision:
This position does not have supervision authority over others.
This position provides clinical oversight for Dental Hygienists
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinic setting and includes working in a mobile clinic Expected to drive a vehicle to other locations which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The position is regularly exposed to biological pathogens and contagious diseases where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and special precautions must be taken due to reduce exposure and mitigate risk. Standing, bending, sitting and lifting is required. Use of hands to touch and feel is frequent. Create and maintain a safe/secure working environment by adhering to safety, security, and health requirements. Integrates injury, illness, and loss prevention into job activities by attending any necessary training and implementing best practices. Freedom to Act & Decision Making:
