Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessment and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
- Utilize 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and patient information.
- Support four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and sterilization procedures in accordance with industry standards.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure.
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting tasks.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
- Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging, and taking vital signs.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while supporting multiple specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
- Skills in medical documentation, coding, and familiarity with 3D scanners are highly desirable.
