Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Take high-quality X-ray images using the NJ Radiology License and ensure accurate medical imaging documentation in EMR systems such as Dentrix
- Support four-handed dentistry by handing instruments efficiently and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness
Experience
- Proven experience working as a dental assistant in a dental office environment, preferably with pediatric patients
- Valid NJ Radiology License with demonstrated proficiency in taking and processing dental X-rays
- Strong knowledge of computer systems such as Dentrix for managing electronic health records and medical documentation
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment
- Competence in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, the ability to accurately document procedures and support billing processes
- Experience assisting with specialized areas such as pediatric dentistry is preferred, but not mandatory
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with our young patients and their parents/guardians, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout their visit
