Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, ensuring optimal oral health for patients of all ages.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to inform treatment plans.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding, and support infection control protocols within the dental office environment.
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as softdent or open dental
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and medical records management.
