Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures.
  • Assist dentists during exams and treatments by providing chairside support with dental instruments, materials, and patient comfort.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when applicable.
  • Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health.
  • Collaborate with the team on four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during complex procedures like prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and supporting the dental receptionist as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray taking, and infection control practices.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
  • Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
  • Ability to perform vital signs measurement and operate medical imaging equipment confidently.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical records management.
  • Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; ongoing education in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is advantageous.
