Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to support our dental team in providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will assist with chairside procedures, manage medical and dental documentation, and ensure infection control protocols are followed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic dental environment, supporting various specialties including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Prior experience with dental software systems and a strong understanding of dental terminology are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques
- Operate EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic for accurate medical and dental documentation
- Take and record vital signs and medical history information for patients
- Capture and process X-ray images and other medical imaging as required
- Manage patient records ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques
- Utilize 3D scanners and other advanced imaging tools for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-care instructions, and oral health maintenance
- Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks typical of a dental receptionist when needed
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Experience with dental assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately
- Familiarity with dental terminology and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Experience with chairside assisting including four-handed dentistry techniques
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and medical imaging techniques such as 3D scanning
- Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics
- Competence in using medical coding systems for accurate recordkeeping
