Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist and general dentists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols including aseptic technique. Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic ensuring proper positioning and image quality for accurate diagnosis. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft, documenting treatment details accurately while complying with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Provide chairside assistance by explaining procedures to patients, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records with precision. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, adhering to infection control standards and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with specific experience in orthodontics (ortho) procedures. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience operating dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft for efficient record-keeping and appointment management. Understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes to ensure patient safety. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with pediatric dentistry when needed. Knowledge of medical coding and documentation standards aligned with HIPAA compliance for confidentiality.
