Job Summary We are a small, private practice seeking a dedicated and energetic EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) to join our dental team! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring smooth and efficient dental procedures across a variety of specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, implants and endodontics. Duties
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures with precision and professionalism, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, including X-ray machines and 3D scanners.
- Take high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; document treatment details accurately in compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Obtain vital signs and medical history from patients to support safe treatment planning, especially in pediatric dentistry and complex cases involving medical terminology.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and understand anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures.
- Support patients by creating a friendly atmosphere tailored to their needs while ensuring compliance with pediatric dentistry protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, and aseptic technique with a minimum of 3 years experience.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical coding and records management is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to support medical documentation processes.
- Certification as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) or equivalent is required; additional certifications in radiography or pediatric dentistry are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about procedures in a compassionate manner.
