COMPENSATION

Hourly Pay Range: $48.366961 - $61.385268

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County's Health Centers Division is looking for an experienced Dental Hygienist to join our Sunnyside Dental Clinic. As part of our integrated healthcare team, you'll play a vital role in improving oral health while collaborating with medical and behavioral health professionals to support whole-person wellness.

Our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serves communities throughout Oregon City, Clackamas, Gladstone, and Sandy, providing compassionate, patient-centered care to those who need it most. Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

• Current Oregon Dental Hygiene license in good standing and issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.

• Nitrous Oxide endorsement is required at the time of hire or within 6 months of hire.

• Current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare workers certification.

Preferred Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

• Experience working in a community heath center or an FQHC setting.

• Working knowledge and experience using Epic Wisdom.

• Experience with Oregon Health Plan (OHP) billing requirements and covered services.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

• Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check.

• Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

TYPICAL TASKS

Routine Tasks:

• Deliver comprehensive dental hygiene care—including preventive and periodontal services—through a patient-centered, trauma-informed approach promoting lifelong oral health.

• Empower patients by providing personalized education, coaching, and preventive strategies that support healthy smiles and overall wellness.

• Utilize digital technologies, including Epic and MiPACS, to supports high-quality patient care.

• Collaborate closely with a team of dentists and support staff to identify patient needs, support treatment planning, and improve health outcomes.

• Maintain clinical excellence by ensuring instruments, equipment, and treatment areas meet the highest standards for safety, infection control, and patient readiness.

• Help create a welcoming, organized, and efficient clinical environment where patients and team members can thrive.

• Support seamless clinic operations through inventory management and stewardship of dental supplies, equipment, and resources.

• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by participating in quality initiatives, reviewing clinical protocols, and supporting best practices in patient care.

• Build meaningful patient relationships by coordinating follow-up care, supporting outreach efforts, and helping patients stay connected to the preventive services they need.

Non-Routine Tasks:

• Inspire and support the next generation of dental professionals by partnering with dental students, dental assistants, and dental hygiene externs in their clinical learning and professional development.

• Promote healthy starts for children and families by participating in Baby Day visits, providing nutrition counseling, oral health education, risk assessments, and fluoride varnish applications to support lifelong wellness.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position offers a 32-hour schedule with a consistent four-day workweek, allowing for enhanced work-life balance. Team members work four 8-hour shifts between Monday and Friday, including one evening shift (10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) each week to support patient access and community needs.

Sunnyside Dental Clinic: Monday 8-5, Tuesday 10-7, Wednesday OFF, Thursday 8-5, Friday 8-5

While this position is expected to be primarily assigned to our Sunnyside Dental Clinic, work locations may vary based on patient care and business needs. Specific schedule details will be discussed during the hiring process. This is a fully on-site clinical role, providing patient care and opportunities for collaboration with medical and behavioral health professionals in an integrated healthcare setting.

• 12 hours of vacation accrued per month

• Monthly accruals (prorated for less than 1.0 FTE)

These are part-time (32 hours per week) County positions represented by the Employees' Association.

Positions over 30 hours are eligible for full-time benefits.
