Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
- Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Follow infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Requirements
- Valid Virginia state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with knowledge of dental terminology.
- Proficiency with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and documentation review.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and medical imaging procedures.
