Surgical Dental Assistant

We are looking for an experienced, mature Dental assistant (3yrs minimum) with oral surgery experience and an A+ attitude. Here, you will be working with oral surgery providing crucial, specialized support during complex procedures manage surgical trays, monitor patients before and after anesthesia, and assist with hands-on clinical tasks to ensure a sterile and highly efficient operating environment; as well as complex endodontic services. We also work with general dentistry and orthodontics all under one roof. Duties will include but not limited to:

Pre-Operative & Administrative Patient Preparation: *Reviewing medical histories, taking pre-operative X-rays (including 3D imaging/CBCT), and calming anxious patients. *Setting the Field: Laying out precise surgical setups, including elevators, forceps, retractors, and suture kits. Intra-Operative (During Surgery) *Chairside Assistance: Anticipating the surgeon's needs, passing surgical instruments, retracting tissue, and managing suction and irrigation to maintain a clear view. *Sedation Monitoring: In many practices, assistants help monitor a patient’s vital signs (like heart rate and oxygen levels) throughout the procedure. Specialized assistants may also hold Expanded Duties Function Certification. Post-Operative & Sterilization *Patient Recovery: Assisting with gauze placement, cleaning the surgical site, and monitoring the patient as they wake up from anesthesia. *Instruction: Providing patients with detailed post-operative care instructions, diet guidelines, and prescriptions. *Infection Control: Managing strict sterilization protocols, autoclaving instruments, and disinfecting the operatory between cases
