Job Description

HOURLY RATE DETERMINED BY EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Truist Park and the Braves are just minutes away, and our brand-new office sits right in the heart of one of the fastest growing areas of the city. COGGIN & COLE DENTAL GROUP is a thriving, family-owned, fee-for-service general dentistry practice on Powers Ferry Road — founded in 1985 by Dr. Celeste Coggin and now led by her son, Dr. Alex Cole. Forty years, two generations, one standard of care.

Description: The job you want and the place you want to work

Coggin & Cole Dental Group is seeking a kind, compassionate, articulate, and experienced dental professional to join our team. The full-time dental assistant seeking employment at our office ideally has 1+ years of experience working as a chair-side assistant and/or dental administrative experience, as we will plan to cross-train you for the front and back — but if you're newer to dentistry and bring the right heart and work ethic, we want to hear from you too. Working knowledge of dental procedures, infection control and sterilization, radiographic skills, HIPAA compliance, and complete computer competence is a must — we are a fully digital office (paperless charting, digital radiography, 3D scanning). First and foremost, the dental professional acts ethically and demonstrates leadership in the office by delivering exemplary care and compassion to patients and staff alike.

Responsibilities: The assistant is always 5 steps ahead of the doctor.

Review all patient records prior to seating the first patient

Set up the operatory completely before the patient is walked back

Seat and greet every patient by name — warm handoffs at every step are how we work

Obtain consent for treatment

Review medical history with the patient

Take necessary radiographs and 3D scans

Update the patient chart and enter correct procedure codes

Assist with the doctor exam and doctor procedures

Record clinical notes accurately and thoroughly, with clear narratives

Clean and disinfect the operatory

Sterilize and sharpen instruments

Manage all incoming and outgoing laboratory cases through our case-tracking system

Execute chair-side and laboratory skills according to supervised direction and education

Work as a team member on any challenge that arises in the dental office

Requirements: Be a caring, compassionate person with experience and we can learn the rest together.

Experience: 1+ years chair-side preferred — less experienced candidates with the right attitude are encouraged to apply

Education: high school diploma

Bonus: Orthodontic, oral surgery, and expanded duty dental assistants will be more heavily considered

Benefits

Retirement plan (SIMPLE IRA) with employer contribution

Dental care

Paid vacation after a year of employment

Opportunities for bonuses and advancement

Continuing education opportunities provided

Scrubs provided

Structured onboarding, a real office manual, and monthly team meetings — you'll never be left guessing

Who we are

Everything we do runs on five values: People First · Intentionality · Ever Evolving · Transparency · Generational Trust. Patients refer their spouses, their kids, and their friends from out of state — and they ask for us by name. Every interaction you have here is a deposit into forty years of trust.

How to apply & what to expect

We are intentional about hiring — you'll meet the actual people you'd work with before either of us commits. Here's the process, so nothing is a surprise:

Apply — submit your resume along with a short note telling us where you are in your dental journey.

Quick phone call — a 10–15 minute call to say hello, answer your initial questions, and schedule your virtual interview. Plan for this call within a few days of applying.

Virtual interview — a video conversation with Dr. Cole and our hiring team.

Working interviews — several paid working interviews on different days, so you experience real days in our office and we get to work side by side before making it official.

Welcome aboard — new team members start with a structured 90-day onboarding track: a written guide, coaching (not scoring) while you learn our systems, and a formal review at 90 days. The standard isn't perfection — it's growth, honesty, and effort.

PS

*** We want you to feel as comfortable as possible throughout the interview process and allow the real you to shine. We are interviewing multiple applicants with varying degrees of experience, so do not be afraid to let us know exactly where you are in your journey. In our office, we like to keep the mindset that we are all learning and sharing constantly, therefore the ideal candidate for this job is someone who is bright, positive, open, honest, timely, kind, and professional. We hope that person is you. ***
