Dental Hygienist

Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status.
• Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
• Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
• Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
• Review and update medical records accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
• Experience in pediatric dentistry and working with children (pediatrics), providing compassionate care tailored to young patients.
• Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement and patient assessment efficiently.
• Skilled in dental assisting procedures, including chairside assisting during various treatments.
• Knowledge of infection control standards, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
