Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials while maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and treatment options to promote optimal oral health outcomes.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical coding for billing purposes, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Operate advanced technology such as 3D scanners and digital X-ray equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient experience.
- Uphold all infection control standards according to OSHA guidelines and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for effective assistance.
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including taking vital signs, medical imaging (X-ray), and aseptic technique application.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable; certification or training in pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Ability to perform dental assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent communication skills with patients and team members.
- Certification in radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are beneficial.
