Duties

• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures.
• Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while maintaining strict compliance with dental x-ray safety standards and infection prevention management.
• Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Provide excellent dental reception services by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting patients with pre-visit preparations.
• Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Support the dental team with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care while demonstrating professionalism in line with dental terminology and anatomy knowledge.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Registered Dental Assistant or in a similar dental assisting role within a busy dental clinic setting.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies related to healthcare environments.
• Hands-on experience with dental x-ray procedures, including digital radiography and 3D scanner technology.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control expertise.
• Competency in chairside assisting across various specialties such as pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
• Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and support medical documentation requirements effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with the dental team and provide outstanding patient care.
