Georgia Jaw Surgery is seeking an experienced, motivated, and patient-focused Oral Surgery Assistant o join our brand-new oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Cumming, GA.

You'll work directly with Dr. Sam Caruso, a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, who provides the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with clinical expertise in:
- Corrective Jaw Surgery
- Wisdom Teeth Removal
- Dental Implants
- Dentoalveolar Surgery
- Bone Grafting
- Facial Trauma
- Office-Based Anesthesia

Position Summary
The Oral Surgery Assistant plays a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care and creating an outstanding patient experience. This position works closely with the surgeon before, during, and after procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence.
Because our practice offers the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, we're seeking someone with prior oral surgery assisting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced surgical environment and is eager to continue expanding their clinical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chairside during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, including wisdom teeth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, and anesthesia cases.
- Prepare and break down operatories before and after procedures.
- Prepare, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain strict infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Take and process CBCT, panoramic, and intraoral radiographs.
- Monitor patient flow to ensure an efficient and positive surgical experience.
- Assist with patient monitoring during sedation procedures in accordance with state regulations.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Educate patients regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and home care.
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and charting.
- Manage surgical inventory and maintain appropriate clinical supplies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CPR/BLS, and all clinical safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment.
- Collaborate with the team to continuously improve workflows, patient experience, and practice operations.
Qualifications Required:
- Dental Assistant certification.
- X-ray certification.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous experience assisting in an oral surgery or surgical dental setting.
- Knowledge of infection control, sterilization procedures, and dental terminology.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Preferred:
- Experience assisting with wisdom teeth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, IV sedation, or other oral surgery procedures.
- Experience taking CBCT, panoramic, and digital radiographs.
- Experience with Open Dental or similar dental practice management software.
- DAANCE certification is a plus but not required.
