Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; document treatment details accurately and efficiently.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by state law.
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Experience assisting in pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, specialists in prosthodontics or endodontics, and patients of all ages.
