Dental Hygienist

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice with a short commute, ideally from Rockland County NY or Bergen County NJ.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, assisting with dental procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily clinical activities. Familiarity with dental software systems and a strong understanding of dental terminology and infection control protocols are essential. The position emphasizes patient education, assessment, and maintaining a sterile environment to promote optimal oral health.

Duties

• Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures to maintain oral health.
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and dental assessments.
• Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Operate dental imaging equipment and ensure accurate documentation of radiographs.
• Manage patient records in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
• Maintain infection control standards through proper aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures.
• Review medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized care tailored to children’s needs.
• Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized, and prepared for patient appointments.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and medical imaging techniques.
• Experience or familiarity with pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, and chairside assisting.
• Ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical coding, and documentation review accurately.
• Excellent patient care skills with a focus on patient assessment and education.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical/medical coding standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and patients alike.
