Cahaba Valley Pediatric Dentistry is a well-established, thriving pediatric dental practice located at 141 Narrows Dr, Birmingham, AL 35242, led by Dr. Jonathan C. Curtis, DMD, MPH. For over two decades, our practice has specialized in providing exceptional dental care to children, adolescents, teens, and special needs patients of all ages. Alongside Dr. Curtis, our team includes Dr. Caitlyn Enloe, DMD, MPH, a skilled clinical staff, and a warm, family-friendly office culture that has earned the trust of hundreds of families throughout the Birmingham area.
We are excited to grow our practice by adding orthodontic services in-house, giving our patients seamless access to comprehensive dental and orthodontic care under one roof.
Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed, part-time Orthodontist to join our team on a flexible schedule of approximately 4 days per month, with the opportunity to increase days as our orthodontic program grows. This is an excellent opportunity for an orthodontist looking for a stable, low-overhead practice environment, a built-in pediatric patient base, and the flexibility to grow a caseload at their own pace.
Responsibilities Provide comprehensive orthodontic evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for pediatric, adolescent, and teen patients Deliver orthodontic treatment, including traditional braces, clear aligners, space maintainers, and interceptive/Phase I orthodontics Collaborate closely with Dr. Curtis, Dr. Enloe, and the clinical team to coordinate integrated dental and orthodontic care Communicate treatment plans, timelines, and expectations clearly with patients and parents/guardians Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and records in compliance with state and practice standards Monitor treatment progress and adjust orthodontic appliances as needed Uphold the practice's reputation for a warm, gentle, kid-friendly patient experience
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Licensure
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school Successful completion of an accredited postgraduate orthodontic residency program (typically 2–3 years) Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Alabama, issued by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners Alabama specialty registration/certification in orthodontics (as required by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners) Current DEA registration Board eligible or Board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics (preferred, not always required)
Experience & Skills
Prior orthodontic experience preferred; new graduates with strong pediatric orthodontic training will also be considered Experience treating pediatric and adolescent patients strongly preferred Excellent chairside manner with children and the ability to build trust with young patients and their families Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with a multidisciplinary dental team Comfort working with digital treatment planning and imaging software Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume pediatric setting
