School-Based Dentist – Rockland County & Downstate New York

Primary Service Area: Rockland County, with additional opportunities in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Orange County, and the Lower Hudson Valley

Compensation: $1,000 per day

Schedule: Weekdays only—no nights, weekends, or holidays

Healthy Smiles NYS is a leading provider of school-based dental services. We bring essential preventive and restorative dental care directly to students, helping children receive care in a comfortable and familiar school setting.

Position Overview

We are urgently seeking compassionate and experienced dentists to join our mobile school-based dental team. Many of our participating schools are located in Rockland County, and we also have assignments throughout the downstate New York region. Dentists may choose full-time, part-time, or contract schedules based on availability and program needs.

Important Medicaid Requirement

An active New York State Medicaid Provider ID is required. Because Medicaid participation is essential to our school-based program, we are prioritizing dentists who are already actively enrolled with NYS Medicaid.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dental examinations

• Provide preventive care, including fluoride varnish, sealants, and oral hygiene instruction

• Diagnose and treat appropriate basic restorative needs

• Educate students, families, and school staff about oral health

• Collaborate with dental hygienists and clinical support staff

• Travel to assigned schools, primarily in Rockland County and surrounding downstate areas

• Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant clinical documentation

• Follow all applicable health, safety, school, and Medicaid requirements

Required Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school

• Active New York State dental license

• Active New York State Medicaid Provider ID

• Ability to pass required school background checks and fingerprinting

• Excellent chairside manner with children

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric or school-based dental experience

• Experience serving Medicaid populations
