Duties

• Assist pediatric dentists during various surgical and restorative procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized dental instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection prevention protocols.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, and ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor vital signs of pediatric patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
• Operate dental equipment such as digital X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and dental sterilization devices efficiently.
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records.
• Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
• Educate patients and guardians on oral health care practices tailored for pediatric dentistry needs.
• Ensure adherence to infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.

Qualifications

• Valid certification as a Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current licensure in good standing.
• Proven experience working within a pediatric dentistry or general dentistry setting, preferably in a surgery center environment.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric care.
• Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including dental sterilization procedures.
• Ability to operate dental imaging equipment accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members.
• Knowledge of dental instruments processing, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques required for surgical settings.
