Duties
- Assist pediatric dentists during various surgical and restorative procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized dental instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection prevention protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, and ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs of pediatric patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
- Operate dental equipment such as digital X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and dental sterilization devices efficiently.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records.
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Educate patients and guardians on oral health care practices tailored for pediatric dentistry needs.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current licensure in good standing.
- Proven experience working within a pediatric dentistry or general dentistry setting, preferably in a surgery center environment.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric care.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including dental sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members.
- Knowledge of dental instruments processing, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques required for surgical settings.
