<Job Summary> Join our dynamic children's dental team as an Advanced Pediatric Dental Assistant, where your expertise will help create a positive and comfortable experience for young patients. In this vital role, you'll provide exceptional chairside assistance, support the dental team with advanced procedures, and ensure smooth clinic operations. <Duties>

  • Assist dentist during complex procedures such as restorations, surgical and endodontics treatments with precision and confidence.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, including surgical and medical imaging devices.
  • Take dental X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage patient flow by greeting families, updating medical records in Dentrix.
  • Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for pediatric patients to support comprehensive care.
  • Educate children and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures in a friendly, confident and informative manner.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems in Dentrix.

<Skills>

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with a focus on pediatric dentistry, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry practices.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatrics, and infection control standards.
  • Experience operating PMS systems , specifically, Dentrix and Dexis for managing medical records, radiographs and documentation efficiently.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining aseptic technique; familiarity with medical imaging equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental coding procedures for accurate billing and insurance processing.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members in a lively, positive manner. Confidence with utilizing "Tell-Show-Do" method when communicating with patients about their care.
  • Familiarity with general dentistry procedures as well as specialized areas like endodontics and prosthodontics enhances your versatility within the clinic environment.
