Based Dental Assistant

*Bland Ministry Center is hiring a Dental Assistant to work with our school-based oral health team in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, and Tazewell Counties. This position will follow the public school schedule, so it's perfect for a parent who may want to stay home while their children are out of school! *

During the school year, work up to 32 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, to support the school-based team through administration and clinical assistance. Tasks may include entry of patient paperwork into EHR system, set up of mobile equipment, taking dental images, and providing oral health education, among other things.

Starting at $15 per hour; pay based on experience.

Must pass a state background check to work within school setting.

The ideal candidate’s skills would include:

• At least 6 months dental assisting experience and hold x-ray certification.
• Clearly demonstrate knowledge of dental instruments and assist dentist competently in all procedures.
• Excel in customer service aspects, display professional relationship when communicating with school staff, and be warm and bubbly toward pediatric patients who may often be nervous in the dental chair.
• Practice safety and organization in sterilization of equipment and chair turnover between patients.
• Interact with doctor and hygienist to provide educational materials to patients based on the procedures that have been performed by the doctor and hygienist.
• Understanding of electronic records to chart entries, schedule patients, and assist at the front desk.
• Show a desire to learn additional skills.
