This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our experienced dentist, assisting in a variety of advanced dental surgeries including implant placements, extractions, and periodontal treatments. Responsibilities • Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and supplies, adhering strictly to infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. • Assist during surgical procedures by passing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring optimal visibility through proper lighting and retraction. • Take dental x-rays, including 3D scans and digital images, ensuring accurate positions and patient safety. • Monitor vital signs and patient comfort throughout procedures, providing support to ensure a calm environment. • Maintain detailed medical documentation, including medical records, dental terminology notes, and procedural details in Open Dental software. • Manage patient flow by coordinating appointments with the dental receptionist and ensuring all necessary preoperative preparations are completed. • Uphold HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records with care. • Assist with post-operative instructions and ensure patients understand their care plans following procedures. • Support the team with general tasks when needed, demonstrating versatility across other specialties.
Experience • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on surgical assisting or chairside assisting in general or specialized dentistry. • Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix or Open Dental for managing medical documentation and records efficiently. • Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and dental terminology essential for accurate communication. • Experience performing x-ray procedures including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology preferred. • Ability to assist in IV sedation cases with sensitivity to patients’ needs is highly desirable. • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical coding practices, and medical terminology relevant to dental surgery settings. • Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications are a plus.
