Periodontal / Oral Surgery / Implant Dental Assistant Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, motivated Dental Assistant to join our specialty periodontal and implant practice. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys surgical dentistry, takes pride in excellent patient care, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience assisting with periodontics, oral surgery, and/or implant dentistry. Experience with dental implant placement, surgical extractions, bone grafting, periodontal surgery, soft-tissue grafting, sinus augmentation, and PRF/PRP procedures is highly valued. We are particularly interested in an assistant who can independently prepare a surgical operatory, maintain proper sterile technique, recognize surgical instruments and materials, and anticipate the doctor's needs during procedures. Training will be provided for our office-specific protocols, but previous surgical dental assisting experience is strongly preferred. Responsibilities - Prepare and break down surgical operatories efficiently. - Maintain sterile technique and proper infection-control protocols. - Set up and identify periodontal, oral surgery, and implant instruments. - Provide chairside assistance during periodontal and implant surgical procedures. - Assist with implant placement, surgical extractions, bone grafting, membranes, soft-tissue grafting, and related procedures according to experience and training. - Prepare surgical materials, implant components, sutures, grafting materials, and other supplies needed for procedures. - Take diagnostic dental radiographs as permitted by applicable requirements. - Sterilize, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment. - Turn over treatment rooms efficiently between patients. - Provide professional and compassionate communication with patients before, during, and after treatment. - Review preoperative and postoperative instructions with patients as directed by the doctor. - Maintain accurate clinical documentation and assist the clinical team wherever needed. Qualifications - Previous dental assisting experience required; periodontal, oral surgery, implant, or other surgical dental experience strongly preferred. - Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, and infection control is highly desirable. - Experience with dental implants, bone grafting, membranes, sutures, periodontal surgery, or surgical extractions is a strong advantage. - Ability to take dental X-rays as permitted by applicable requirements. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work well as part of a team. - Comfortable communicating with patients and helping them feel at ease before and after surgical procedures. - Willingness to learn the doctor's surgical protocols, materials, and techniques. What We Are Looking For We are looking for more than someone who can simply provide basic chairside assistance. The right candidate should be interested in periodontics, implant dentistry, and oral surgery and motivated to develop strong surgical assisting skills. An assistant who already understands surgical setups, implant components, grafting materials, sterile fields, and surgical instrumentation will be especially well suited for this position. Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
