Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) — Job Description Position Summary
The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) supports the dentist and dental team in providing high-quality patient care. The RDA prepares treatment rooms, assists during dental procedures, takes and develops dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations, maintains infection-control standards, and provides patients with basic oral-health education.
Key Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment for dental procedures. Assist the dentist during examinations, restorative procedures, extractions, and other treatments. Take dental X-rays and perform other clinical duties within the scope of state regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and treatment documentation. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and treatment areas according to OSHA and infection-control standards. Prepare and maintain dental materials and supplies. Provide patients with instructions regarding oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventive dental practices. Monitor and maintain dental equipment and report any issues promptly. Assist with patient scheduling, treatment coordination, and other administrative duties as needed. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable state dental regulations. Maintain a professional, compassionate, and welcoming environment
