Dental Assistant
Job Description
About the Role Under direct and indirect supervision, the dental assistant will assist the Dentist in both administrative and clinical duties including; prepare patient for procedure or exam, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist during dental procedures.
What You'll Do • Assist with dental and medical emergencies according to OSHA and office procedures • Maintain CPR certification • Assist chair side during administration of nitrous oxide • Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts and surgical guides • Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients • Record treatment information in patient records • Operate X-ray and 3D scanning equipment and developing radiographs for diagnostic purposes • Actively provide hand instruments and materials as needed to Dentist during exams and procedures including operative setup, anesthesia administration, and cleanup • Use and maintain hazard control protocols as established by OSHA and office standards • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols • Represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies • Handle multiple deadlines and task assignments efficiently • Work both independently and cooperatively in team settings • Participate in routine equipment maintenance and determine maintenance needs • Prepare patient charts, record treatment plans, and update dental records • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures • Provide patients with information on oral health care, treatment plans, and postoperative outcomes • Monitor stock of surgical supplies and medication and replenish as needed • Ensure instruments and equipment are effectively maintained • Provide excellent patient care at all times
What You'll Bring Required: • High School Diploma or GED Certificate • Diploma or certificate from an approved dental assisting program • x-ray certificate • Two years of dental practice experience Preferred: •
