Oral Surgeon Office is seeking a Front Desk/ Insurance Coordinator
POSITION DESCRIPTION: A position description is the approved statement of the basic function, responsibilities and duties of a position and the proper organizational relationships.
POSITION PURPOSE: Performs administrative and clerical work for the practice to include the following.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
GENERAL DUTIES: • Opening and closing office each day. • Maintaining a clean and organized work area as well as maintenance of patient waiting room. • Answer multiple telephone lines and field calls. • Greets and directs patients, and visitors. • Filing (medical records and miscellaneous filing).
PATIENT CARE: • Compiles and records medical charts, reports and correspondence including preparation of charts for the following day’s appointment. • Schedule in-office appointments and confirm such appointments at least two days prior to appointment. • Monitoring and adjusting appointment schedule for one or more of the doctors to ensure smooth daily operations. • Communicate with surgical assistant the schedule of one or more of the doctors. • Instructs new patients in completion of medical history and information forms. • Enters all pertinent patient demographic information into practice management software. Maintains and updates such information regularly. • Confirms patients’ insurance eligibility with insurance companies and obtains appropriate pre-determination /pre-authorization for procedures. • Calculates patient financial responsibility and collects co-pay /co-insurance amount from patient prior to procedures being performed. • Posting charges and payments into practice software. • Generating referral letters and miscellaneous correspondence. • Generating end of day reports for doctors (schedules and call lists). • Completes insurance claim forms, submits claims to insurance companies. MUST BE EXPERIENCED IN ORAL SURGERY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Basic Knowledge & Competencies: • Outstanding verbal and written communication and collaboration skills with Surgeons and or Medical Doctors • Ability to use basic math and some algebra skills (i.e. measuring, using whole number, common fractions and decimals). • Some computer skills are necessary for this position. • Establishes a track record of delivering measurable results and making sound business decisions • Ability to contribute to a high performing team • Excellent Patient / Customer Service and multi-tasking skills • Strong attention to details and high level of accuracy while maintaining short deadlines • High School Degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a medical / dental environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Extensive walking, standing and sitting • Frequent use of hands to manipulate the keyboard, telephone, files and other equipment • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Office Hours: Monday- Friday 8:30am- 5:00pm
