Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support the dental team in delivering exceptional patient care, and ensure smooth workflow within the practice. Your leadership will help foster a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental experience. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of dental assistants and support staff to maintain high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Conduct vital signs assessments and assist with chairside assisting tasks including taking dental terminology notes, medical coding, and managing medical records.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic productivity.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices while demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism throughout their visit.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic technique, and medical imaging procedures such as X-ray and 3D scanning.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records management and confidentiality standards.
  • Experience supporting pediatric dentistry procedures is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of dental assistants while maintaining high standards of patient care and clinic operations.
