Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Perform patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions
• Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort
• Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term health
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
• Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software platforms like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
• Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with children is highly desirable
• Skilled in chairside assisting, including patient positioning, instrument handing, and patient comfort management
• Ability to perform vital signs measurement and monitor patient health during appointments
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Knowledge of infection control practices, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques in a dental setting
• Excellent communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with team members
• Previous experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments is preferred
