Oral Surgery Assistant

Position: Surgical Assistant

Role Summary The Surgical Assistant is essential to maintaining efficient clinical flow and supporting safe, high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting during procedures, preparing surgical environments, and ensuring patients are well cared for before, during, and after treatment. We welcome both experienced oral surgery assistants and motivated dental assistants looking to advance their clinical skillset.

Core Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operatories and surgical suites
• Assist chairside during oral surgery procedures
• Ensure instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and organized
• Support patient comfort and monitor patient status during procedures
• Capture diagnostic imaging as directed
• Review pre- and post-operative instructions with patients
• Document clinical notes accurately within DSN software
• Adhere to all infection control, OSHA, and safety standards
• Manage operatory turnover and maintain supply levels
• Work closely with the surgeon and team to deliver a seamless patient experience

Required Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification in accordance with state regulations
• Radiology certification
• Current CPR certification
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Experience

• Background in oral surgery or surgical dentistry
• Familiarity with extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, or IV sedation procedures
• Phlebotomy certification bonus
