Dental Hygienist
Job Description
Duties
- Perform dental hygiene procedures such as dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide oral health instructions
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation as needed
- Perform periodontal charting and assist with periodontal therapy
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Document patient treatment records accurately in electronic health record systems (Eaglesoft)
Qualifications
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Knowledge of dental office procedures and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (Eaglesoft)
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients on oral health practices
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
