Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures.
• Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort.
• Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to proper safety protocols and infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and answer their questions to promote overall dental health.
• Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Support the dental team with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and handling patient check-in/check-out processes.

Skills

• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Opendental, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control techniques, and aseptic procedures.
• Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or orthodontics is highly valued.
• Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and medical coding practices related to dental procedures.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
• Understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and general health to assist in comprehensive patient care.
