Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures, following strict dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry, providing necessary tools and materials efficiently.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and 3D scans while maintaining proper aseptic technique and ensuring patient comfort throughout the process.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and adherence to HIPAA privacy policies.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using appropriate dental terminology.
- Monitor vital signs and medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care in pediatrics or adult dentistry.
- Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks with professionalism as a dental receptionist.
- Uphold clinical confidentiality policies at all times while maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment aligned with infection control standards.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, dental instrument processing, and dental equipment operation.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to oral health, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry procedures, and medical coding practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, including aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques including intraoral imaging and 3D scanning technology is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
