Job Overview Position Title: Dental Assistant (DA I or DA II)

Employee Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Location: Concord, NC

Schedule: We are in search of a Full-Time DA, open to work our typical clinic hours to accommodate patient flow:

Mon: 6:45 AM – 2:00 PM Tues–Thu: 6:45 AM – 4:00 PM Fri: 6:45 AM – 1:00 PM (Perfect for early birds who love long weekends! )

Compensation: Market-competitive and commensurate with experience/certifications. Final offer based on skills assessment, credentials, and schedule. Open to tailoring a package for the right candidate.

Job Summary: As a Dental Assistant, you’ll support providers and patients by delivering efficient, compassionate, and detail-oriented care. From chairside assistance to radiographs to patient education, you’ll help create smooth, on-time visits and calm, confident patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Chairside Assistance: Prep rooms, assist with procedures, anticipate provider needs. Patient Care & Education: Ease anxiety, review instructions, reinforce home care. Radiography & Imaging: Capture diagnostic-quality X-rays with XVWeb. Sterilization & Infection Control: Turn over rooms, maintain logs, follow OSHA/CDC. Records & Software: Chart in OpenDental; update treatment notes. Supply & Equipment: Restock rooms, maintain trays, report maintenance needs. Restorative & Oral Surgery Assisting Mastery: Assist with all restorative and oral surgery procedures as prescribed by the doctor. Periodontal Support: Willing and able to assist with hygiene and perio procedures (HVE, ReLeaf, irrigation). Team Collaboration: Use team radios, support colleagues, keep the day flowing smoothly, patient outreach, maximizing opportunities, etc. Patient Experience: Provide comfort, clarity, and a friendly presence.

Required Qualifications:

NC Dental Assistant I or II (DA II preferred). Current CPR/BLS certification. Radiography certification per NC regulations. Knowledge of OSHA, CDC, HIPAA standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year general practice experience. Coronal polishing Familiarity with OpenDental and XVWeb. Strong ergonomics & isolation skills (ReLeaf experience a plus). Bilingual a bonus!

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Gentle, calming chairside manner. Organized, detail-focused, great with time management. Strong communicator and team player. Tech-comfortable, quick to learn software and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Sit/stand for extended periods, assist in patient positioning. Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to assist in procedures.

On-time room turnover & patient seating . Diagnostic-quality radiographs with minimal retakes. Flexibility and urgency to promote same-day treatment. Clinical efficacy and efficiency. Accurate charting in OpenDental. Positive patient reviews & provider satisfaction. Organized supplies & compliant sterilization logs.

Responsibilities:

Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, including sterilization of instruments and adherence to aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in the medical documentation system. Manage patient records, including medical records, medical coding, and documentation in EMR systems. Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions. Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist in ordering as necessary. Stay updated on advancements in dental technology, including 3D scanners and medical imaging techniques.

Ideal Candidate Has :

Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Familiarity with dental software such as OpenDental is advantageous.

Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and HIPAA regulations is essential.

Ability to perform chairside assisting duties competently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients and team members. Understanding of prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus.
