Job Overview
We are looking for an energetic individual, with great attention to detail and the desire to work as a team player in our modern, well established dental office, as a full-time Dental Assistant. You will assist our doctor and other team members during procedures, manage patient flow, and ensure that all clinical and administrative tasks are performed with precision and compassion. Dental experience is a big plus, however a dependable, friendly individual with a strong work ethic, that works well with others and is a quick learner would be considered for the position.
Duties
- First and foremost, be on time, be reliable, have a positive attitude, treat our patients well and work with co-workers kindly and efficiently.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management policies.
- Assist the doctor and other team members chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, implant dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry and periodontics.
- Take and develop digital X-ray systems and 3D CBCT scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical records (EMR) systems , ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support front office administrative team members with some cross training to help with front office tasks.
- Adhere to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Assist with dental instrument processing, infection control protocols, and maintaining dental equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental or medical clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, X-ray taking, sterilization procedures, and patient management.
- Knowledge of EMRs or dental patient management software systems is preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices aligned with healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively using medical/dental terminology while maintaining professionalism in patient interactions.
- Certification in Dental Assisting or equivalent training is preferred but not required. Radiology certification not required to start but will need to be completed within the first year and the office will help arrange that certification.
