Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with our doctor to provide high-quality preventive care, support the treatment of gum and tooth diseases, and educate patients on the importance of oral hygiene. This position offers a relaxed environment with a manageable patient schedule, including single-column bookings with 1-hour prophy, 1-hour periodontal maintenance, and 1-hour or quad scaling and root planing appointments.
Responsibilities
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
- Sterilize dental instruments properly
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
- Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
- Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
- Give instructions to patients after dental procedures
- Take X-rays or dental impressions
- Assist the dentist with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
Skills
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
- Outstanding communication skills
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene
- Valid license
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $53.00 - $56.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 10.0 per week
