Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection prevention management policies.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including dental x-ray imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to safety protocols and radiation exposure guidelines.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software; ensure accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details.
- Provide patient management support by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring patients feel comfortable throughout their visit.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support dental sterilization procedures and infection control protocols to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure with demonstrated experience in general dentistry or specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery.
- Proficiency with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, dental instrument processing, and aseptic technique.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience working with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely and accurately while maintaining strict adherence to infection prevention policies.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with proficiency in medical imaging techniques.
