Duties

  • Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring accurate medical documentation.
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Support patient management by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow with professionalism as a dental receptionist.
  • Maintain clinical cleanliness by following strict dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques in line with infection control policies.
  • Assist with dental instrument processing and ensure all dental equipment is functioning properly for safe and efficient procedures.
  • Support the dental team with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow during complex treatments such as oral surgery or endodontics.
  • Adhere to all healthcare infection prevention and control policies while ensuring the safety of patients and staff at all times.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures relevant to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties.
  • Experience with dental X-ray techniques including digital imaging tools like 3D scanners and traditional radiography equipment.
  • Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
  • Excellent patient management skills with the ability to communicate effectively about treatment plans and procedural steps.
  • Ability to operate dental equipment safely while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of dental instrument processing protocols to ensure proper sterilization and readiness for each procedure.
  • Understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and healthcare documentation practices.
  • Strong organizational skills to support efficient patient flow, appointment scheduling, and record keeping in a fast-paced environment.
