Surgical Dental Assistant

Duties

• Assist during oral surgery and implant procedures by preparing and passing dental instruments, sutures, and surgical supplies with precision and aseptic technique
• Ensure all dental equipment, including 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and sterilization tools, are properly maintained and ready for use
• Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
• Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical records in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and verifying vital signs before procedures
• Support infection prevention management by sterilizing instruments, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies, and following strict infection control procedures
• Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort throughout the treatment process
• Collaborate with the dental team on clinical documentation, medical records management, and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on surgical procedures in general dentistry or specialized fields like oral surgery or prosthodontics
• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery and pediatric dentistry
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records efficiently
• Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices safely and accurately
• Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with clinical confidentiality policies
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with patients and team members effectively while maintaining professionalism at all times

Pay: $25.33 - $30.51 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
