Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, and overall dentistry, providing necessary instruments and materials efficiently
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering strictly to dental x-ray safety protocols and aseptic techniques
• Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records in patient management software such as Dentrix, and documenting vital signs accurately
• Ensure clinical confidentiality policies are maintained when handling medical documentation and medical records
• Support patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and providing post-treatment instructions with clarity and compassion
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment by processing dental instruments properly and adhering to infection control standards

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices (2 year Experience)
• Proficiency with EMR system, such as Dentrix for managing patient information efficiently
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Skilled in taking dental x-rays, including 3D scanner technology when available, with a focus on safety and accuracy
• Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and clinical procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing and sterilization according to infection prevention standards
• Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and teamwork within a four-handed dentistry environment
• Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in infection control or healthcare safety are advantageous
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under pressure
