Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient experience
- Take and develop medical imaging such as digital X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient health status prior to treatment, documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems)
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards and managing dental instruments with precision
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with current certification to practice
- Experience in general dentistry settings with a focus on patient care, assessment, and charting
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in a dental clinic environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, demonstrating compassion and professionalism
