Part-Time Orthodontic Dental Assistant
We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and patient-focused Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced orthodontic environment, and enjoys building positive relationships with patients and families. An active X-ray license/certification is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures and appointments
- Take and process dental X-rays and orthodontic records in accordance with applicable regulations
- Obtain orthodontic records, including photographs, scans/impressions, and other diagnostic records as needed
- Assist with sterilization, instrument processing, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment
- Provide clear and friendly patient instructions regarding orthodontic appliances, oral hygiene, elastics, retainers, and post-treatment care
- Assist with orthodontic laboratory duties, including retainer fabrication and appliance-related tasks
- Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for patient care
- Maintain infection-control and OSHA standards
- Assist the orthodontist and clinical team with daily patient flow and other clinical duties as needed
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, parents, and team members
Qualifications
- Current/active X-ray license or certification required
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred; orthodontic experience is a plus
- Knowledge of sterilization and infection-control procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Friendly, professional, and positive attitude
- Comfortable working with children, teens, and adults
- Willingness to learn orthodontic laboratory and retainer fabrication techniques
