Registered Dental Hygienist
Job Description
Overview: A Dental Hygienist works closely with dentists to provide preventive oral care, educate patients on proper dental hygiene, and assist in detecting and preventing oral diseases. This position combines clinical expertise with patient interaction to promote long-term oral health.
Responsibilities:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth
- Take dental x-rays
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation
- Follow aseptic techniques to ensure infection control and patient safety
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy
Requirements:
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Knowledge of medical coding for dental procedures
- Familiarity with dental software such as Dentrix
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members
- Ability to take accurate vital signs and record patient information
