Oral Surgery Assistant

HOURS:
Monday- Thursday 8:00am- 5:00pm
Friday 7:30am-2:00pm
POSITION PURPOSE
Northern Texas Facial and Oral Surgery is seeking a skilled, dependable, and patient-focused Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. This position plays an important role in supporting our surgeons, maintaining clinical efficiency, and providing a high standard of care and service to our patients.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Chairside Surgical Support: Assist surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and materials are properly prepared and readily available.

Patient Care: Prepare patients for surgical procedures, obtain and document necessary clinical information, provide reassurance, and review pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed.

Surgical Room Preparation: Set up and break down surgical operatories efficiently and ensure rooms are properly prepared for each patient and procedure.

Sterilization & Infection Control: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment while maintaining strict infection-control protocols and compliance with OSHA and practice safety standards.

Radiography & Imaging: Obtain dental radiographs and assist with panoramic and CBCT imaging as needed and within applicable certification requirements.

Clinical Documentation: Accurately document appropriate patient and procedure information in the patient's clinical record.

Implant Tracking: Assist with maintaining accurate dental implant inventory, including monitoring implant sizes and quantities, documenting implants used during procedures, tracking lot and reference numbers, and ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained.

Inventory & Supplies: Monitor clinical inventory, restock surgical rooms, and help ensure adequate levels of instruments, medications, materials, and supplies are maintained.

Patient Flow: Work efficiently with the clinical and front-office teams to maintain appropriate patient flow and support the daily surgical schedule.

Team Collaboration: Communicate and work collaboratively with surgeons, fellow Surgical Assistants, and administrative team members to support excellent patient care.

Versatility: Support additional clinical and administrative tasks as needed to meet the needs of the practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Safety Adherent: Follow strict safety guidelines and procedures according to OSHA and office standards.
• Clear Communicator: Effectively communicate verbally with patients and staff in a clear and professional manner.
• Detail-Oriented: Work efficiently with a keen eye for detail.
• Flexible Worker: Adapt to changing job duties, work schedules, and traveling to all of our locations as needed
• Active Listener: Demonstrate active listening by fully engaging in conversations, understanding points being made, asking relevant questions, and avoiding inappropriate interruptions.
• Positive Attitude: have a team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn and grow
Certifications and Safety Requirements:
- Basic CPR and RDA Certification REQUIRED
- Oral Surgery or Periodontal Surgery experience preferred
- DAANCE Certification preferred **
- Dental implant knowledge and experience preferred
- Hepatitis B Vaccination and Titer
- TB Vaccination and Titer
