Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Assist the dentist during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and other general dentistry treatments.
- Take and develop medical imaging, including X-rays, adhering to proper aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review medical records for relevant health information to support comprehensive patient care.
- Follow infection control protocols diligently to maintain a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating patient information, and managing dental records.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-related procedures is preferred.
- Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient care delivery.
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, medical imaging techniques, and anatomy relevant to dentistry.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, documentation review, and medical coding practices.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team as a chairside assistant supporting general dentistry procedures.
