Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental concerns to inform treatment planning.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment while ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting all patient interactions accurately and reviewing medical records for comprehensive care.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques, sterilization of equipment, and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and medical imaging procedures.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and performing dental x-rays with precision.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and HIPAA compliance management.
