Experienced Dental Assistant / Receptionist
We are seeking an experienced, dependable Dental Assistant / Receptionist to join our dental practice. This position is ideal for someone with several years of hands-on chairside assisting experience who is also comfortable helping with front-office responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who understands the flow of a dental practice, knows dental terminology, communicates professionally with patients, and can confidently assist the dentist without needing extensive training in basic dental assisting duties.
Responsibilities
Clinical / Dental Assisting
- Provide experienced chairside assistance to the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for procedures
- Take accurate dental X-rays
- Take dental impressions
- Follow proper sterilization, infection-control, and clinical safety protocols
- Clean, sterilize, package, and organize dental instruments
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked operatories
- Accurately document clinical notes, procedures, and relevant patient information
- Understand and use dental terminology appropriately
- Anticipate the dentist's needs during procedures and help maintain an efficient clinical workflow
- Provide patients with clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist
Front Desk / Patient Care
- Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phones and communicate with patients
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Collect and process patient payments
- Assist with check-out and scheduling follow-up appointments
- Maintain accurate patient information and records
- Communicate effectively with the clinical and front-office team
- Help keep the office running smoothly during busy periods
Qualifications
- Several years of dental assisting/chairside experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, instruments, and materials
- Experience taking dental X-rays
- Experience taking impressions
- Strong understanding of sterilization and infection-control procedures
- Comfortable documenting accurate clinical notes
- Previous dental front-desk/reception experience preferred
- Comfortable collecting payments and discussing patient balances professionally
- Excellent communication and patient-service skills
- Organized, reliable, punctual, and able to multitask
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental environment
- Professional, positive, and team-oriented
- Current certifications/licenses required for dental assisting and radiography in accordance with applicable state requirements

The right person for this position is experienced and confident both chairside and with patients at the front desk. We need someone who can step into a dental environment, understand what the dentist needs, take accurate notes and X-rays, maintain proper sterilization standards, and provide patients with professional and welcoming service from check-in through check-out.
