Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment plans.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, managing patient comfort, and supporting overall patient management software workflows.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health.
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
- Excellent communication skills to support patient care, explain procedures clearly, and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
